Baseball Recap: Perry Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Perry won the last time they faced Mesquite and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Perry Pumas came out on top against the Mesquite Wildcats by a score of 6-3. While the Pumas didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Dane Jochumsen tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Rowen Noreus and Andrew Hover did most of the damage at the plate: Noreus scored a run while going 1-for-2, while Hover scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Clayton Brassfield was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Perry, bringing their record for this year to 9-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mesquite, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-3 record.

Looking ahead, Perry will face off against Valley Christian at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Perry's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Valley Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Mesquite, they will square off against Desert Vista at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday. Desert Vista is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
