Softball Recap: Eight Straight Home Wins for Devine

Devine waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victor by a 13-0 margin over the Nixon-Smiley Mustangs. The result was nothing new for the Warhorses, who have now won six matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Yaya Rodriguez was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kenny Cruz, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Devine was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .700. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Devine's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Nixon-Smiley, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Coming up, Devine will face off against Edinburg North at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Nixon-Smiley, they will challenge United South at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
