After flying high against Montville last Friday, Griswold/Wheeler came back down to earth. The Griswold/Wheeler Wolverines took a 49-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Windham Whippets on Friday. Windham had a senior duo take command as Deshawn Chapman rushed for 136 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries and Darien Jenkins rushed for 86 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries. Jenkins also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making five total tackles and defending two passes in addition to snagging an interception.
Griswold/Wheeler's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Windham, they pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home.
Griswold/Wheeler didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 53-34 victory against Woodstock Academy on the 4th. Windham has also already played their next match, a 13-6 win against Stonington on the 4th.
