Baseball Recap: Havana Takes a Loss

Havana was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Illini West Chargers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Ducks of the 11-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Landon Oatman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits.

On the hitting side, Havana saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaden Olson, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Havana's record is now 6-14. As for Illini West, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 18-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Havana will take on Astoria/VIT at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Illini West, they will square off against Pittsfield at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Chargers 3.2, the Saukees 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
