League recap: Columbia stuns Purvis in upset

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Purvis, who took down 39th ranked Purvis, 19-14. Jacorean Johnson in the win.

Tylertown took down South Pike 34-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Ja'Mori Mark ran for 128 yards in the win.

The Eagles' dynamic duo of Destin Mcghee and Darreal Cook proved tough for the Chiefs to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Mcghee threw for 15 yards and Cook had 15 yards receiving.

Purvis' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Tornadoes feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Nathan Roseberry has thrown for 624 yards and two touchdowns this season, while Markell Pack has 23 catches for 399 yards. Thomaz Taylor leads the league in rushing with 664 yards.

Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Tylertown takes on Lawrence County. Jason Johnson's team's offense has scored 261 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Cougars have allowed only 193 on the year.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Chiefs take on Lawrence County. Tylertown is currently in first, while David Parker 's team is in fifth.

Columbia made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,826 from 4,101. The advance stemmed from a 19-14 victory over the Tornadoes last week.
