Baseball Game Preview: Lakota East Thunderhawks vs. Hamilton Big Blue

The Lakota East Thunderhawks will face off against the Hamilton Big Blue at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Lakota East was handed a six-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past Little Miami 6-5. The victory continues a trend for the Thunderhawks in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Hamilton had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wolves, sneaking past 6-4.

Peyton Davis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kaleb Powers was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Sams, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Hamilton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-13 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for Lakota East, their victory bumped their record up to 16-11.

Lakota East came out on top in a nail-biter against Hamilton when the teams last played on May 5th, sneaking past 3-2. Do the Thunderhawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Big Blue turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
