Recap: Caldwell Parish Spartans vs. Buckeye Panthers
If The Caldwell Parish Spartans were feeling good off their 34-6 takedown of the Marksville Tigers last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Caldwell Parish took a 47-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Buckeye. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Friday (34), Caldwell Parish still had to take the loss.
Jim Burlew continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Buckeye, rushing for 178 yards and five touchdowns. Burlew is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Haidyn Boone, who picked up 127 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Caldwell Parish's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Buckeye, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
Caldwell Parish will head out on the road to face off against Jena at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Jena is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Buckeye, they will be playing at home against Marksville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Louisiana (Marksville is ranked 188th, while Buckeye is ranked 196th).
