Softball Game Preview: Seneca Indians vs. Kickapoo Panthers

Seneca has gone 8-2 against Kickapoo recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Indians will be playing at home against the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Iowa-Grant hit Seneca with a five-run fifth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Indians came up short against the Panthers, falling 12-2. The Indians haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Seneca saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brigid Hall, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run. Camryn Lenzendorf was another, getting on base in both of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Kickapoo fell victim to Wauzeka-Steuben and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 8-0 to the Hornets. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Panthers were not able to get on the board.

Maddy Townsend spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and six unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

Kickapoo's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Seneca, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Seneca has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Kickapoo struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Seneca skirted past Kickapoo 4-2 in their previous meeting on Thursday. Do the Indians have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
