Volleyball Game Preview: Mitchell Kernels vs. Jefferson Cavaliers

The Mitchell Kernels will face off against the Jefferson Cavaliers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Mitchell heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Friday. They fell just short of Lincoln by a score of 3-2. The Kernels have struggled against the Patriots recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Mitchell sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 23-25, 25-18, 20-25, 15-9.

Meanwhile, Jefferson faced Washington in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Cavaliers came up short against the Warriors, falling 3-0.

Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 12-14. As for Mitchell, their loss dropped their record down to 16-10.

Mitchell came out on top in a nail-biter against Jefferson when the teams last played back in October, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Kernels since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
