Football Game Preview: Needville Bluejays vs. Yates Lions + How To Watch

The Needville Bluejays will take on the Yates Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Friday, Needville lost to Stafford at home by a 31-17 margin.

Although Needville took the loss, they still got scores from Kaden Jakubec and Carter Hedt.

Needville didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ralphie Ortiz and Colton Butler. Another thorn in Stafford's side was Diego Hernandez, who picked up two sacks and made nine total tackles.

Meanwhile, Yates put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Their defense stepped up to hand Furr a 71-0 shutout. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Lions' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 254th, while the Brahmans are ranked 1146th).

One reason for the win was Yates' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as five different players picked up one apiece.

Needville's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Yates, their win bumped their record up to 10-0.

Everything came up roses for Needville against Yates in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, as the squad secured a 49-14 victory. Do the Bluejays have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
