Preview: North Edgecombe Warriors vs. Warren County Eagles
The North Edgecombe Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Warren County Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Edgecombe will be strutting in after a victory while Warren County will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Friday, North Edgecombe humbled Wilson Prep with a 61-33 victory. Given North Edgecombe's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 254th, while Wilson Prep is ranked 548th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
North Edgecombe's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Diamond Wilson, who scored 22 points along with 5 rebounds. Ke'Ziyah Pittman was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 8 rebounds and 7 assists.
Meanwhile, Warren County came up short against Weldon on Friday and fell 49-40. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Warren County in their matchups with Weldon: they've now lost four in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Zarria Henderson, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aryana Meadows, who scored 12 points.
North Edgecombe now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Warren County, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
North Edgecombe beat Warren County 48-40 when the teams last played back in January. Will North Edgecombe repeat their success, or does Warren County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
