Softball Recap: Briar Woods Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lightridge, Briar Woods was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Stone Bridge Bulldogs an 8-0 shutout. This was payback for the Falcons, who suffered a 5-4 loss the last time these two teams met.

Caprice Bohmer made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Natalie Posusney, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Brenna Carpenter was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Briar Woods' victory bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Stone Bridge, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-9.

Briar Woods will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
