Volleyball Recap: Wisconsin Heights Vanguards vs. Cambridge Bluejays

Wisconsin Heights had lost seven straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 3-12 to make it eight. They came up short against the Cambridge Bluejays, falling 3-0. If the Vanguards were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Bluejays when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Wisconsin Heights' offense was headlined by Izzy Sutherland and Lauren Smith, who picked up seven kills apiece. They got some help from Amelia Blicharz and her 14 assists. Sonja Severson controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

As for Cambridge, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. They not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since October 17, 2024 (when they won 3-0).

Leading Cambridge to victory were Cally Travis and Vivian Fisher. Travis had 12 assists and four digs, while Fisher had nine digs and four assists. Those nine digs gave Fisher a new career-high.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Wisconsin Heights will take on rival Waterloo at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Cambridge is set to square off against their familiar foe New Glarus at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
