Softball Recap: Charlestown Takes a Loss

Charlestown fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against West Washington on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Senators by a score of 5-4. The Pirates haven't had much luck with the Senators recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Hannah Burns spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Charlestown saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aleyah Glotzbach, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Charlestown's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for West Washington, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 8-0.

Charlestown has already played their next match, an 8-5 win against Silver Creek on the 22nd. As for West Washington, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 15-0 victory against South Central on the 21st.
