Recap: Holy Cross Crusaders vs. Woodland Regional Hawks
The Holy Cross Crusaders entered their tilt with the Woodland Regional Hawks with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Holy Cross had just enough and edged Woodland Regional out 58-56. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Holy Cross has scored all year.
Several Hawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was James Scampolino, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of John Napiello, who scored 11 points.
Holy Cross' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2. As for Woodland Regional, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-9.
Holy Cross will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Derby at 7:00 p.m. Derby will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Connecticut Rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while Holy Cross is ranked 33rd). As for Woodland Regional, they will head out on the road to face off against Waterbury Career Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Waterbury Career Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 791 points over their last ten contests.
