Soccer Game Preview: Independence vs. Youngker

The Independence Patriots will square off against the Youngker Roughriders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Independence sitting on six straight victories and Youngker on five.

Independence's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 6-0 margin over Sierra Linda. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by three goals or more this season.

Their offense was hitting Sierra Linda from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Jocelyn Vite led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, Youngker sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Buckeye on Wednesday.

Independence pushed their record up to 12-2-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 18 goals over those four matches. As for Youngker, their win bumped their record up to 10-1-2.

Independence was able to grind out a solid victory over Youngker in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Independence since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
