Baseball Recap: Blue Ridge Snags 12th Win in Last 13 Games

While Blue Ridge put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Southwest Virginia Academy. The Jays blew past the Conquerors 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Jays, who have now won 13 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Josh Landis made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

In other batting news, Finn Birdsong was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Micaiah Hill was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one triple.

Blue Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Southwest Virginia Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Blue Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 4-2 victory against Ellis County Christian Homeschool Organization on the 7th. Southwest Virginia Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
