Baseball Recap: Albert Gallatin Comes Up Short

Albert Gallatin extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 4-9-1 in the process. They came up short against the Elizabeth Forward Warriors, falling 15-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 on Tuesday.

As for Elizabeth Forward, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games.

For Elizabeth Forward's part, JB Crovak was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Crovak has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacob Peterson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, five RBI, and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Charlie Nigut, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Albert Gallatin wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 10-0 loss against Belle Vernon on the 28th. As for Elizabeth Forward, they have also already played their next match, a 14-9 defeat against West Mifflin on the 28th.
