Basketball Game Preview: AuSable Valley Patriots vs. Beekmantown Eagles

The AuSable Valley Patriots will venture away from home to face off against the Beekmantown Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

AuSable Valley is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 61-16 win over Saranac Lake. The Patriots have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Beekmantown strolled past Plattsburgh with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 55-38. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while the Hornets are ranked 297th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Beekmantown had a senior duo take command as Payton Parliament dropped a double-double on 16 points and 20 rebounds and Sophie Miller went 6 of 9 on her way to 14 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Parliament has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Julia Conroy, who made all 5 shots she took to post 10 points.

The victory got AuSable Valley back to even at 4-4. As for Beekmantown, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-4.

AuSable Valley couldn't quite finish off Beekmantown when the teams last played back in January of 2024 and fell 51-49. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Parliament, who almost dropped a triple-double on 21 points, ten rebounds, and nine steals.
