Softball Recap: Wiregrass Comes Up Short

Wiregrass extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 6-12. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Southern Christian Patriots. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 22, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Wiregrass saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josie Landry, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

As for Southern Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games.

On Southern Christian's side, Addison Cole spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. Cole has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Southern Christian beat Wiregrass by a score of 8-1 later that day.
