Kankakee Valley and Lowell are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2022, but likely not for long. The Kougars will host the Red Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Kankakee Valley took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over Rensselaer Central. The win continues a trend for the Kougars in their matchups with the Bombers: they've now won four in a row.
Owen Uylaki spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Kankakee Valley is 3-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 6-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Will Chestnut was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Keaton Wagner was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Lowell came out on top against Benton Central on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run first inning. The Red Devils were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Bison. Considering the Red Devils have won seven contests by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Camden Mikulich was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Mikulich was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Lowell let Derek Rice and Mason Umfleet run wild. Rice went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Umfleet went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Rice has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Reidenga, who earned two RBI and two runs.
Lowell was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Lowell now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Kankakee Valley, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.
Kankakee Valley was able to grind out a solid win over Lowell in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, winning 6-2. Do the Kougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
