Basketball Recap: Paw Paw Pirates vs. Pendleton County Wildcat
It was a good run, but the Paw Paw Pirates unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They were dealt a 81-46 loss at the hands of Pendleton County. Paw Paw was down 68-41 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Paw Paw's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ayden Crabtree, who scored 14 points along with two steals. Crabtree has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Donavan Tanouye, who scored 16 points.
Paw Paw's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6. As for Pendleton County, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Paw Paw will square off against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hancock will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 299th in Maryland, while the Pirates are ranked 68th in West Virginia). As for Pendleton County, they will head out on the road to challenge the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. East Hardy is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
