Softball Recap: Rich Township Wins Going Away Against Thornton

Rich Township got themselves on the board against Thornton on Wednesday, but Thornton never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 16-0 win. The Raptors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by eight runs or more this season.

Lillian Skelly made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Skelly was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times she's played.

In other batting news, Kasidy Whitaker was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. She is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ezri Adami, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.

The victory made it two in a row for Rich Township and bumps their season record up to 8-12. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Thornton, they dropped their record down to 0-13 with the loss, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Rich Township will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
