Softball Recap: Midlothian Makes It 14 in a Row at Home

Midlothian had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They had just enough and edged out the Matoaca Warriors 2-0. The Trojans' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last five contests.

The result came thanks to Marlee Gaskell's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Gianna Caranante was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

Midlothian's win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Matoaca, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-4.

As of now, neither Midlothian nor the Warriors have any future games scheduled.
