Softball Recap: Tanner Comes Up Short

Tanner extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 11 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-2. They lost 18-3 to the Sheffield Bulldogs. If the Rattlers were looking for revenge after losing 20-10 to the Bulldogs when the teams met back in March of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Sheffield's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

For Sheffield's part, Eva Lopez was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Those six strikeouts gave Lopez a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maya Gangar, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Camora Craig, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

While Tanner had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
