Football Recap: Mt. Zion Eagles vs. Bowdon Red Devils
After soaring to 41 points the game before, Mt. Zion was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They were beaten by the Bowdon Red Devils 44-7. The matchup marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bowdon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Joshua Hopkins, who rushed for 131 yards and one score on only 11 carries, and also threw for 61 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Hopkins' longest rush was for an incredible 78 yards. Connor Daniel was another key player, rushing for 142 yards and one TD on only 13 carries.
Mt. Zion's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-2. As for Bowdon, they pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
