Softball Game Preview: Blair Academy Bucs vs. Gill St. Bernard's Knights

The Blair Academy Bucs are taking a road trip to square off against the Gill St. Bernard's Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Saturday just wasn't the day for Blair Academy's offense. They lost 16-0 to Hun on Saturday. The Bucs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Gill St. Bernard's can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They walked away with a 4-0 win over Rutgers Prep.

Julia Ward tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Gill St. Bernard's saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isabella Mecca, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Mecca has posted since back in April.

Blair Academy's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Gill St. Bernard's, the victory got them back to even at 8-8-1.

Everything went Blair Academy's way against Gill St. Bernard's when the teams last played back in May of 2016, as Blair Academy made off with an 8-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bucs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
