Baseball Recap: Cave Spring Comes Up Short

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Cave Spring and Hidden Valley meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Knights came up short against the Titans, falling 15-7. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 10-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Evan Lee was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Sam Urgo, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

Cave Spring has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Hidden Valley, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-4.

Looking ahead, Cave Spring will be playing at home against William Byrd at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Hidden Valley, they are taking a road trip to square off against Glenvar at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Highlanders' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Titans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
