Basketball Recap: Auburn Comes Up Short

Auburn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 35-31 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lourdes Central Catholic Knights. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 253rd, while the Knights are ranked 46th).

Auburn's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Lourdes Central Catholic, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Auburn will host Fairbury at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lourdes Central Catholic, they will be playing at home against Weeping Water at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Lourdes Central Catholic has won seven straight at home dating back to last season, while Weeping Water won five straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
