Preview: Cazenovia Lakers vs. Adirondack Wildcats
Cazenovia is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Adirondack is on a seven-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Cazenovia Lakers will take on the Adirondack Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Cazenovia put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Holland Patent 44-14 at home. Given Cazenovia's advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 84th, while Holland Patent is ranked 348th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cazenovia's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Robert Livingston, who threw for 108 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Jack Donlin was another key contributor, gaining 50 total yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Adirondack gave up the first points last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They strolled past Bishop Ludden/Syracuse Academy of Science with points to spare, taking the game 50-35.
John Hennessey was a one-man wrecking crew for Adirondack as he rushed for 124 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 71 yards and two touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes. Hennessey hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Isaac Croneiser, who rushed for 97 yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped Cazenovia to 8-0 and Adirondack to 8-1.
