Basketball Preview: Carol City Chiefs vs. Mater Lakes Academy Bears
The Carol City Chiefs will take on the Mater Lakes Academy Bears at TBD on Tuesday. Carol City is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Last Tuesday, Carol City took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 65-21 win over the Warriors.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Carol City to victory, but perhaps none more so than Decurtis Johnson, who scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnson has scored all season. Mikaili Taylor was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Mater Lakes Academy fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Titans on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 62-61 to the Titans. It was the first time this season that Mater Lakes Academy let down their fans at home.
Carol City's win bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Mater Lakes Academy, their defeat ended a 17-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 16-8.
Carol City was taken down by the Bears 72-36 in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Can Carol City avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
