Basketball Recap: Coral Reef Wins Going Away Against Homestead

Coral Reef won the last time they faced Homestead and things went their way on Thursday too. The Barracudas enjoyed a cozy 67-50 victory over the Broncos. That 17 point margin sets a new team best for the Barracudas this season.

Coral Reef's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaiah Charlot, who went 9-for-16 to rack up 24 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. With that strong performance, Charlot is now averaging an impressive 2.4 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Angel Santos, who shot 47% from the field en route to 20 points.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Coral Reef was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Homestead lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jamari Tyson, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 12 boards. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. D'Angelo Montalvo was another key player, putting up ten points and three steals.

The victory made it two in a row for Coral Reef and bumps their season record up to 4-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.5 points over those games. As for Homestead, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Coming up, Coral Reef is taking a road trip to square off against TERRA Environmental at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Coral Reef will be up against TERRA Environmental's rather soft defense (which has allowed 57.5 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Homestead, they have already played their next game, a 75-56 defeat against South Dade on the 5th.
