Soccer Game Preview: Taft vs. Eagle Rock

The Taft Toreadors will square off against the Eagle Rock Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Taft is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They won by a goal and slipped past Roybal 3-2. The Toreadors' winning goal came courtesy of Gianna Abarca.

Meanwhile, Eagle Rock had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They never let the Trojans get on the board and left with a 2-0 win. Give the Eagles' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Eagle Rock pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 27 goals over those seven contests. As for Taft, their win bumped their record up to 3-16.

Taft took their victory against Eagle Rock in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 by a conclusive 8-0. Does Taft have another victory up their sleeve, or will Eagle Rock turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
