Basketball Recap: Oberlin Comes Up Short

Oberlin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a 58-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cuyahoga Heights Red Wolves. The Phoenix were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Red Wolves apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2019.

When it comes to explaining why Oberlin lost, don't look at Josiah Bowen-Pride. Despite the final result, he shot 5-for-8 from downtown and dropped a double-double with 23 points and ten rebounds. Bowen-Pride's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Korrie Freeman, who posted four points in addition to seven assists and five boards.

Oberlin's loss dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Cuyahoga Heights, they pushed their record up to 16-7 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home.

Oberlin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cuyahoga Heights, they will square off against Grand Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cuyahoga Heights has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 206 points over their last three contests.
