Baseball Game Preview: Elizabeth Cardinals vs. Mitchell Marauders

For the second straight game, Elizabeth will face off against Mitchell. The Cardinals will be playing in front of their home fans against the Marauders at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Elizabeth has four straight victories, Mitchell has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Elizabeth's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Mitchell. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

Tristan O'Neal made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Walker Blanchard was a standout: he went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Joey Dome, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Elizabeth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .469. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mitchell only posted a batting average of .071.

Elizabeth's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Mitchell, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-14.
