Softball Recap: Marquette Has No Trouble Against Sault Area

Marquette was forced to take a big defeat against they on Tuesday, they got the better of them on Tuesday. They blew past the Sault Area Blue Devils 20-5. The Redmen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by ten runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Nora Skytta, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Halle Haynes, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Marquette was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .520. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Marquette moved to 7-3 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Sault Area, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

The future could be bright for both Marquette and Sault Area: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. The Redmen will try to hand Superior Central their third-straight defeat when the two meet at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Sault Area will look to extend Traverse City West's three-game losing streak when they meet at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
