Softball Game Preview: York Falcons vs. Turner Ashby Knights

The York Falcons will square off against the Turner Ashby Knights at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

York is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over Fauquier.

Sarah Witt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits.

At the plate, Kenlee Washington was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Leah Hunter, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Meanwhile, Turner Ashby faced Abingdon in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Knights had just enough and edged out the Falcons 4-3.

Turner Ashby has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for York, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-9.
