Softball Recap: Custer County Comes Up Short

Custer County had lost three straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped down to 5-4 to make it four. They lost 16-1 to the Laurel Locomotives. Having soared to a lofty 30 runs in the game before, the Cowboys couldn't push the score so high this time.

Ryleigh Eurich made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.

As for Laurel, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by ten runs or more this season.

On Laurel's side, Adrienne Roth made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Roth has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Laurel let Emerson Gunther and Colby Letcher run wild. Gunther went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Letcher went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Sophia Wisecup was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Custer County will be playing in front of their home fans against Sidney at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Laurel, they will venture away from home to challenge Skyview at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
