Softball Recap: Somers Starts off Right with Win over John Jay

Somers had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They skirted past the John Jay Wolves 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Tuskers in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won five in a row.

Emily Boyle spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Somers saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keira Griggs, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Somers will head out to face off against Croton-Harmon at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for John Jay, they will venture away from home to take on Brooklyn Technical at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
