Softball Recap: Ferndale Wins Going Away Against Bellingham

Ferndale's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Bellingham Bayhawks with a sharp 20-6 victory. The Golden Eagles haven't had any issues with the Bayhawks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Maddy Slevin was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Celisse Castleberry was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Ferndale kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Ferndale's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-6. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.0 runs over those games. As for Bellingham, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Looking ahead, Ferndale will host Oak Harbor at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Golden Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season. As for Bellingham, they will face off against Lynden at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
