The Kamiak Knights will challenge the Glacier Peak Grizzlies at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Kamiak is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
While Kamiak's win against Arlington wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Kamiak had just enough and edged out Arlington 4-2.
Synclair Mawudeku spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in May of 2024.
On the hitting side, Emma Stansfield was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.
Meanwhile, Glacier Peak won against Edmonds-Woodway on Monday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. Glacier Peak put the hurt on Lake Stevens with a sharp 11-4 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Grizzlies.
Glacier Peak also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Emma Hirshorn gave up four earned runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Glacier Peak got a massive performance out of Lauren Hufford, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Hufford a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Sammie Christensen, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.
Glacier Peak lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Glacier Peak's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Kamiak, they pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Kamiak hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .354. However, it's not like Glacier Peak struggles in that department as they've averaged .330. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Kamiak came out on top in a nail-biter against Glacier Peak in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. Will Kamiak repeat their success, or does Glacier Peak has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
