Football Recap: Del Campo Comes Up Short

Del Campo extended their losing streak to seven on Friday, dropping them down to 2-7. They were dealt a 50-14 defeat at the hands of the Roseville Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 546th, while the Tigers are ranked 161st).

Ahmir Roots threw for 34 yards. On the ground, Bryce Smith rushed for 76 yards on only seven carries.

As for Roseville, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.8 points on average over those games.

Colton Wolfe was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 126 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries. Those 126 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Kenny McClure was another key player, rushing for 43 yards and one TD.

Looking ahead, Del Campo will look to defend their home field on Friday against Twelve Bridges at 7:30 p.m. The Cougars will need to watch out since the Raging Rhinos have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. Roseville has already played their next contest (against Placer), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
