Baseball Recap: Apollo Gets the Win

Apollo let Lyon County stack four runs on them in the fifth inning on Saturday but luckily Apollo prevailed anyway. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Lyons 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since April 19th.

The victory made it two in a row for Apollo and bumps their season record up to 16-9. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Lyon County, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-7.

Apollo and Lyon County should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings. The Eagles (ranked 25th) will meet Henderson County (ranked 122nd) at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Lyon County will square off against Murray at 5:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (26 vs. 114).
