It was a good run, but Nikiski unfortunately witnessed the end of their 13-match winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Kenai Central Kardinals by a score of 3-2. The Bulldogs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Kardinals earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

When it comes to explaining why Nikiski lost, don't look at Emma Hornung. Despite the final result, she had 14 digs.

Kenai Central found their leader in sophomore Aija Gravley, who had 17 digs.

Nikiski's loss dropped their record down to 38-12-6. As for Kenai Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 36-15-5 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Nikiski beat Kenai Central by a score of 1-0 later that day.
