Soccer Game Preview: Monticello vs. Liberty

The Monticello Panthers will face off against the Liberty Redhawks at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Monticello is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to seven goals on Friday, they were much more limited against Beacon on Monday. They came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 6-0. The defeat continues a trend for Monticello in their meetings with Beacon: they've now lost six in a row.

Meanwhile, Liberty hasn't lost a match since September 18th, a trend which continued in their latest game on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Sullivan West a 4-0 shutout. Considering Liberty have won seven matchups by more than three goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Liberty has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-4-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those five matches. As for Monticello, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5-2.
