Softball Recap: Brownsburg Takes Down Ranked Franklin Central

Brownsburg faced Franklin Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Bulldogs came out on top against the Flashes by a score of 7-4. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Flashes: they've now won three in a row.

Etta Schroering spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on four hits.

At the plate, Ag (Ava) Pogue was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Neal, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Brownsburg kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Brownsburg pushed their record up to 15-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Franklin Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-9.

Coincidentally, Brownsburg and Franklin Central will both be playing Fishers the next time they take the field. The Flashes will head out to face the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Bulldogs will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
