Softball Recap: South Sioux City's Losing Streak Snapped at Six Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Omaha South, South Sioux City was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They blew past the Benson Bunnies 10-0. The victory was some much needed relief for the Cardinals as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Paisyn Ross made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Ross was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aubrey Tranmer, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Payton Derochie was another key player, getting on base in both of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

South Sioux City was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

South Sioux City's record now sits at 2-10. As for Benson, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-10.

South Sioux City didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-4 defeat against Lincoln High on the 6th. As for Benson, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Omaha North at 4:30 p.m.
