Basketball Recap: Evansville Mater Dei's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

Evansville Mater Dei entered their matchup against Henderson County on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Evansville Mater Dei Wildcats might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Henderson County Colonels an easy 57-31 victory. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 134th in Indiana, while the Colonels are ranked seventh in Kentucky).

Brooklyn Gibson was a one-woman wrecking crew for Henderson County as she went 8 of 10 en route to 21 points. Another player making a difference was Allyson Rideout, who posted 12 points and five boards.

Evansville Mater Dei's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-6. As for Henderson County, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Evansville Mater Dei and North Posey will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Henderson County will take on Castle in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Henderson County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52 points per game this season.
