With a playoff win on the line, Hermann rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the East Buchanan Bulldogs 3-2. Winning may never get old, but the Bearcats sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hermann to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kealie Lane, who had 19 digs and three aces. Lane is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 13 or more in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brynlee Ash, who had ten digs and two aces.
They weren't the only good servers: Hermann was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. They are 11-2 when they serve at least ten aces.
Maggie Whitt and Piper Jacobs certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Whitt had 16 digs and two aces, while Jacobs had 13 digs and two aces.
Hermann's victory bumped their record up to 18-13-2. As for East Buchanan, with the loss, they broke their seven-match winning streak and moved their record to 27-11-3.
Hermann has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against St. Vincent on the 6th. As for East Buchanan, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-2 loss against New Covenant Academy on the 6th.
