Softball Game Preview: Rowlett Eagles vs. Wylie Pirates

Rowlett is 0-10 against Wylie since April of 2021 but things could change on Wednesday. The Eagles will square off against the Pirates at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Rowlett challenged Garland on Thursday. The Eagles' pitcher stepped up to hand the Owls a 10-0 shutout. The win was familiar territory for the Eagles, who have now won three games in a row.

Baylee Grant was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 4-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2025.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jordynn Williams, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Dylan Buls also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Rowlett lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Wylie made easy work of Naaman Forest on Thursday and carried off a 12-1 victory.

Rowlett's record now sits at 17-7. As for Wylie, their record is now 17-6-1.

Rowlett suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Wylie in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
